Best for Mogao CavesFace-value pricing. Official channel. Choose exact time slot.
Chinese phone number required. Chinese-language interface.
Search for the official Mogao Caves name in WeChat. Morning slots (8:00-10:00) fill first. Book 2-4 weeks ahead in July-August.
Trip.com / Ctrip
Best for ForeignersEnglish interface. Pay with international card. Clear cancellation policy.
5-15 percent markup. Limited time slots in peak season.
Good fallback if WeChat is too difficult. Book at least 2 weeks ahead in peak season. Check both Trip.com and Ctrip for availability.
Hotel Concierge
Best for ConvenienceZero language hassle. They handle everything. Often face-value pricing.

Visit Dunhuang in winter (Dec-Feb)
Save CNY 100+ on MogaoMogao Caves tickets drop to CNY 140-160. Hotels are half price. The caves stay 15C inside year-round. Yadan Geopark may have reduced hours but is nearly empty.
Use B-tickets if A-tickets sell out
Save CNY 138 per personB-tickets give you 4 caves for CNY 100 vs A-ticket's 8 caves for CNY 238. You see fewer caves but pay less than half the price. Some A-ticket caves may be closed for preservation anyway — you might not miss them.
Buy Jiayuguan combined ticket
Save CNY 60 per personThe CNY 120 combined ticket covers Jiayuguan Fort + Great Wall Museum + Overhanging Great Wall. Buying separately costs CNY 180+.
Skip Yadan if budget is tight
Save CNY 200-400 per personYadan costs CNY 120 entry + CNY 200-400 for a private driver. At CNY 320-520 total, it's the most expensive day trip. Crescent Lake's dunes (CNY 120, 10 min from city) give a similar desert experience for less.
